Privacy Policy

Last updated June 17, 2026. We built TempClip to collect as little about you as possible.

1. Our Approach

TempClip is designed around data minimization. You do not need an account to use the Service, and we intentionally avoid collecting information that could identify you. This policy explains what limited data we process and why.

2. Information We Process

2.1 Clip Content

Clip content is encrypted at rest on our servers with AES-256-GCM and transmitted over TLS. It is decrypted only to deliver the clip to an authorized recipient, and content is automatically destroyed on expiry or first read. We do not read clips for advertising or analytics. Because we hold the encryption key, we may decrypt a specific clip when required to act on an abuse report or comply with a valid legal request — see our Security Overview and Terms of Service.

2.2 Technical Data

To operate and protect the Service, we temporarily process technical signals such as IP address and request metadata. These are used strictly for edge rate limiting and abuse prevention via Upstash Redis, are retained only as long as necessary, and are not linked to your clips.

2.3 File Storage

Files are uploaded directly from your browser to a private Cloudflare R2 bucket using short-lived presigned URLs. The file never passes through our application memory, and downloads are only available through temporary links that expire within minutes.

3. What We Do Not Do

  • We do not sell your data.
  • We do not read clip content for advertising or analytics — only to deliver it or to act on an abuse report or legal request.
  • We do not build advertising profiles from clip content.
  • We do not require names, emails, or phone numbers to create a clip.

4. Cookies

The core Service functions without tracking cookies. We use only the minimal local storage required to remember your in-app preferences, such as your last-used editor view.

5. Data Retention

Clips are retained only until their expiry or first read, whichever comes first. After destruction, the encrypted payload is removed from active storage and queued for permanent deletion. Administrators may also remove a clip earlier in response to an abuse report.

6. Your Rights

Because we hold so little personal data, most requests resolve quickly. To ask a question about your data, contact privacy@tempclip.dev.
